OTTO Market - How to Solve "Inadmissible variant creation"

This error message is specific to OTTO Market. It refers to an issue in the value mapping.

For OTTO Market, you must assign all of a product's variant dimensions to variant-forming channel properties in the value mapping menu.

Ensure that all variant dimensions are mapped correctly.

1. Review the Product's Variant Dimensions

•Go to the product list ("Articles > Product list") and open the affected product.

•Go to the "Product data" tab and check which category is assigned under "OTTO Market - Kategorienliste".

•Switch to the "Article list" tab and note down the product's variant dimensions.

2. Review the Product's Value Mapping

•Open the value mapping menu ("Channels > OTTO Market > Value mapping").

•In the left column, select the affected product's category.

•Filter the middle column to only display variant-forming properties.

•Check which of the product's variant dimensions is not assigned to one of the variant-forming OTTO Market properties.

•Assign the missing variant dimension(s) to the matching variant-forming OTTO Market property.

•Map the variant dimension's individual values in the right column and save your settings.

Troubleshooting

If OTTO does not offer variant-forming properties that match your variant dimensions, choose one of the following options:

A) Remove the Variant Dimension from the Product

ATTENTION:
This is only possible if the variant dimension is not in use for another channel and if removing the variant dimension will not create duplicate articles.

•Go to the product list ("Articles > Product list") and open the affected product.

•Switch to the tab "Article list".

•Under "Variant dimensions", remove the variant dimension in question by clicking .

•Click on "Save Dimension".

B) Block Export of the Variant Dimension to OTTO Market

ATTENTION:
Only use this solution if the variant dimension is not needed in any other OTTO Market category. Otherwise, products in that category are no longer exported to OTTO because mandatory properties are missing.

Example: Some OTTO Market categories allow variant creation via color, but not via size. In other categories, the "size" is mandatory as a variant-forming property. If you block the variant dimension "size" to resolve an error in the first type of category, products in the second type of category are no longer exported.

•Go to "Basic data > Properties > Components" and select the affected variant dimension. The component editor opens on the right.

•In the "OTTO Market - Assignment" section, select "Don't export".

•Save your settings.

C) Create an Additional Variant Dimension

If you cannot delete the variant dimension from the product (option A) because you need it for another channel, and blocking it (option B) is not possible because you need it for another OTTO Market category, you have to create an additional variant dimension specifically for OTTO Market.

Create a New Component

•Go to "Basic data > Properties > Components".

•In the left navigation bar, click on the "Create new component" Page Action. The component editor opens on the right.

•Enter a clear designation that shows this component is specifically for OTTO Market (for example "OTTO_size").

•If you import your data into TB.One, enter an import key.

•Select the "Don't export" checkbox for all channels except OTTO Market.

•Save your settings.

Block the Old Variant Dimension

•Go to "Basic data > Properties > Components" and select the affected variant dimension. The component editor opens on the right.

•In the "OTTO Market - Assignment" section, select "Don't export".

•Save your settings.

Store the New Component as a Variant Dimension on your OTTO Products

Add the new component as a variant dimension to all products that need it. Do not add it to the product(s) that originally caused this error.

•Go to "Products > Product list" and open each product where you have to add the new variant dimension.

•Switch to the "Article list" tab.

•Select the newly created component in the "Create dimension" field and click on "Save dimension".

•The table in the lower section of the menu now contains an additional column for the new variant dimension. Enter the variant values here. Usually, they should be identical to those from the variant dimension you use for other channels.

•Save your settings.

ATTENTION:
If you import product data via CSV or XML, we recommend adding the new variant dimension directly in the import catalog files instead of using the graphical user interface. Data imports may overwrite component assignments made in the graphical user interface if you do not adjust the imported files accordingly.

Update the Value Mapping

Because you have blocked the component originally used for variant creation on OTTO, you now need to map the new component instead.

•Go to "Channels > OTTO Market > Value mapping".

•In the left column, open a category for which the now-blocked component is mapped.

•In the middle column, update the assignment for the affected channel category with the newly created component.

•In the right column, map all unmapped values.

•Save your settings.

•Repeat these steps for all categories where the blocked component was used and OTTO Market offers a matching variant-forming property in the middle column.
