Configuring the Application of Internal Categories

In the menu "Admin > Default values" you can choose if, and under which circumstances, assignments from internal categories should be applied to products.

This configuration only applies to the settings defined on the internal categories' tab "Assignments" (at "Basic data > Classification > Internal categories"). It does not relate to any properties you may have assigned to internal categories via an attribute set or any configurations on the tab "General" (e.g. cross-sellings).

You can choose when to assign channel categories and article data via internal categories: The options are: "always", "never" or "only at creation".
For product data you may choose "never" or "if no assignment exists".

If you choose "never", the "Assignments" tab of the internal categories will show a warning.
