How to Export Different Product Descriptions to Marketplaces

One product needs different description texts for different marketplaces?  While TB-One doesn't have a native function for this, you can achieve it by using Product Text Profiles or Translations.

Solution via Product Text Profiles

Some channels allow for product descriptions to be created via product text profiles and the product text configurator.

1. Set Up a Product Text Profile

Go to "Basic data > Templates > Product text profiles".

Click "Create new product text profile".

Give your profile a clear name (e.g., "Zalando Description").

Click on “Empty product text profile”

Click on "Create".

Configure the text to be exported to the marketplace.

2. Assign the Product Text Profile to a Channel

This assignment ensures the correct description is sent to the designated marketplace.

A single profile can be assigned to multiple channels.

Go to "Channels >  [Your Channel] > Settings".

Click on "Product texts" tab.

Select "Use configurable product text" in the Product text configuration section

Choose one of the two options to assign product text profiles

oOPTION 1: All products use the same product text profile.

oOPTION 2: Products use different product text profiles.

Solution via Translations

1. Create a Language

Go to "Articles > Translation > Languages".

Click on the page action "Create new language".

Enter an "Import key" (e.g., 'zade' for Zalando.de) and a "Designation" (e.g., 'Zalando').

Click "Save".

2. Store the Description

You can now store a specific product description for that "language".

This can be done manually within TB-One or via import.

3. Assign the language in the channel settings

TIP:
For this step, please reach out to Tradebyte Support to have the language settings adjusted for you, as the “save” button in this tab is disabled for you.

Go to "Channels > [Your Channel] > Settings".

Click on "System settings" tab.

Scroll down to the “Export” section.

Assign your newly created Language, .e.g 'Zalando' as your new default language.

Use as alternative language the "-- from product data --" option. This ensures that you only have to translate the product description, TB.One continues to use the untranslated value for all other information such as title, product components etc. in the export.

Q&A

Can I use HTML or markdown in my product descriptions?

In general, it is best to avoid HTML or markdown unless specifically supported by the channel.
